CaribHRForum Professional Networking Group

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

chrf-professionalnetCaribHRForum is pleased to announce the formation of its Professional Networking Group.

Based on social networking software, the group allows members of the forum to get to know each other, while escaping the anonymity of the CaribHRForum discussion list.

The initial group was formed from the member of the discussion list, which is 420 strong at this point, and attracted over 120 members.

At the moment, membership is closed, but when it reopens there will be a small charge for all new members, payable on an annual basis.

The plan is that the discussion list will always be free, however.

Bajan, Jamaican and Trini Work-Culture

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

An article covering the work my company (Framework Consulting) does in companies was printed in the Observer, and then picked up by blogger Dennis Jones, in Barbados.

I thought his response was interesting, and quite unexpected as it draws direct comparisons between Jamaican work culture, and the one he found in Barbados as an outsider. Some of what he says was echoed in the first CaribHRForum Conference Call held last Friday.

(A link to a full recording of the call was sent last Friday to the discussion group.)

Click here to access Dennis’ article: “Why Get All Worked Up When You Can Wuk Up?”:.

Also, the original article by Observer columnist Jean Lowrie-Chin can be found by clicking here: “Jamaicans Rebel… Trinis Crack Jokes.”

Would love to hear comments and reactions either in the discussion group, or here.

CaribHRForum’s 2008 Survey

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

This year’s survey of HR Professionals in the region is focused on the topic of Regional Human Resource Conferences.

It’s a much larger survey than the one we conducted last year, as it’s going out to over 3000 professionals, in as many as 10 countries.  Hopefully, we’ll get a good understanding of what drives a decision to attend a conference, and what might be done to boost attendance, quality and profitability.

If you’d like to participate, simply join CaribHRForum’s email discussion list (click on the see the Join tab above or click here) and listen out for the survey which will be sent out to the group within a few days, until October 10th when it closes.

Why Does CaribHRForum Need a Website?

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

caribhrforum-logo.jpg

If you are a long-time subscriber to the CaribHRForum discussion list you may well be wondering to yourself — why does CaribHRForum need a website, a blog and all that stuff?

Well, as useful as the CaribHRForum discussion list is to have, it’s a tough idea to describe to someone who has never experienced a discussion list before.

I decided based on the feedback from HR professionals to provide something more tangible, and something more welcoming. I especially had in mind HR professionals across the region who aren’t all that computer savvy, and who still want to network and connect.

This blog and website are a way to expand the conversation we have been having on the discussion list to include more of our colleagues, and to provide other ways for them to share the information, discussion and other good things that we on the CaribHRForum discussion list have been sharing for several months.

Thankfully, this site can be expanded easily, and new content can be added with just a few clicks, ensuring that our information remains timely, relevant and fresh.

So, welcome to the new, expanded CaribHRForum!
